Fundraising, Motivating and Saving Lives
With the Precious Feet

"Through the years the Heritage House has received many letters about the impact of the Precious Feet. Some are from women who were contemplating abortion and changed their minds because they saw the Feet. Others are from people who share unique ways in which they used them in their ministry. Among the many letters are also those from people who share with us how they raise funds for their Pro-Life groups through the sale of the Precious Feet.

The following are just a few comments that will give you an idea of the impact the Precious Feet have had on people:

"I can't tell you the reaction we've been getting. People on our committee who wear them are particularly delighted with the attention they draw and always use the opportunity to further the conversation. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING in my 8 years working in the Pro-Life movement has served as such an educational tool...their service to the educational process is incalculable." T.L., Midlothean, Virginia

"Whenever I turn around someone is calling ordering an additional 20 'Precious Feet.' Aside from a fund-raiser for our Counseling Center, the 'Feet' are a tremendous educational effort. Everywhere there is astonishment that a baby of 10 weeks is developed that fully. It's really a tremendous idea to let the 'Feet' talk for themselves." -M.G., La Habra, California

"The 'Feet' sell like crazy. We think they're the most effective Pro-Life message ever!!" P.M., St. Ignace, Michigan

"What a sensation your 'little feet' are creating! I work in a hospital where the O.B. department personnel wear them...I can't keep up with the demand!" S.H., Alexandria, Minnesota.

This booklet is full of ideas from groups and individuals who have used the Precious Feet effectively. You wouldn't believe some of the ways they are used! When you read the following pages you will see numerous new and exciting ways that you can use the Precious Feet in your own fund-raising, education and promotion.

1. Fundraising With The Precious Feet

Don't Speak Without Your Feet!

Knives, Spoons, Forks and Precious Feet

Save-A-Life Ministries in Mobile, AL use the Precious Feet to raise funds at their annual banquet. When they set their table for their banquet, they place a pair of Precious Feet next to the program. When people commit to a donation they take the Precious Feet as a token of that commitment.

Say "Thanks" With Your Feet!

National Right to Life gives a pair of Precious Feet for every new membership or membership renewal. Your group also can make this offer through your newsletter or membership promotion. People expect to receive a confirmation of their donation and membership. Sending a pair of precious feet is an excellent way to say, "Thank you", and reminds your supporters daily of their commitment to the Pro-Life cause and to your group.

Be a Permanent Fixture In the Back of Your Church

Many Pro-Life groups throughout the country sell the Precious Feet at a table set up in the back of their church. Some do this in conjunction with special Pro-Life services in January or October. Others have a permanent display in the church lobby with Precious Feet, literature and other Pro-Life items that they sell every Sunday.

Cakes, Cookies and Precious Feet

The Alaska Teens for Life (membership - 350!) holds bake sales where they also sell the Precious Feet. According to their president Mary Rubbelman, the Precious Feet sell very well and are a main part of their fund-raising. She says, "The feet sell themselves."

Fat Free Fund-raiser

Private schools are always having fund-raising sales. The favorite fund-raiser is candy. But candy is high in fat and bulky to carry. Many schools around the country have decided to sell something that actually spreads the Pro-Life message - the Precious Feet. Teens and kids LOVE the Precious Feet. In Snowflake public high school, the Teens for Life sold Precious Feet to boys and girls alike. They are now being worn on ball caps, coats, book bags, etc. The wonderful thing about getting the Precious Feet on teens is that they have the most exposure to other teens that may be considering an abortion.

When a school sells Precious Feet, they can sell them for $2.00 each. If they buy them for .50 each in 1000 lots, they make a four times mark-up. Even selling them for $1.00 you make 2 times what they cost! Compare this to candy and you can see that, from a completely monetary standpoint, these are a great fund-raising item! But with each pair of Precious Feet sold and worn, new opportunities open up to share about the humanity of the unborn!

Since the feet sell so easily kids have no problem selling them to other kids and to church and family members. If the group also gives the piece of literature "Milestones of Early Life" with each pair of feet, they are not only raising funds but are educating people about the early life of the unborn.

The next time your school or church youth group needs a fund-raiser that works, sell something that can educate, motivate and maybe even save a baby's life.

A Favorite at the Fair

Many Right to Life groups and other Pro-Life organizations have booths at county or state fairs. The Feet are one of their main fund-raisers. If you need help planning what materials to have at your booth along with the Precious Feet, call our customer service representative. They would love to help you!

Diana Blume of Life Line Ministries in Spokane, WA says, "This was the first time we have had a booth at our fair. We pinned your Precious Feet on ribbons. We sold out of the Precious Feet early. We could have sold a whole bunch more and next year we will be ready."

Helen Gozler of Pennsylvanians for Human Life says, "Every time we have a booth or display we put out Precious Feet. We have them in our Pro-Life Center, also. They sell very well."

Flo Callaway of Arizona Right to Life says, "We have people who come looking for our booth to buy the 'little feet.' We always run out because they are so popular. They really do sell themselves!"

Mary Jackson of St. Croix Valley MCCL writes, "The Precious Feet are such an identifiable trademark that when we have a booth at the fair people come to the booth and ask if we have them. They are an excellent fund-raiser."

Across the country year round there are fairs and large gatherings of people. In Washington there is a gathering of Christian teens called, Jesus Northwest that attracts over 25,000. State fairs attract millions. Health Fairs are another good place to educate and fund-raise. Anywhere there are crowds of people; the Precious Feet become the perfect fund-raiser as well as educator.

Knights of Columbus Can't Order Precious Feet Fast Enough!

When someone gave Pete Driscoll, State Deputy for Pennsylvania Knights of Columbus, a pair of Precious Feet, they didn't know what they were starting. Pete was so moved by them that he bought 250 pair with his own money. He took those to a meeting with the District Deputies and shared their significance. He sold the 250 on the spot and took orders. His next order was for 2,000 and he immediately sold out. His next order was for 3,000 and most of those were already pre-sold! Heaven knows how many he has ordered since then. The reason the Precious Feet were so popular with the Knights of Columbus was both their message and their potential for fund-raising. Pete sold them to the District Deputies for .60 each. On the above numbers he made $500 profit. The District Deputies took them to their local Knights of Columbus meetings and sold them for $1.00 each making a .40-cent profit. On the quantities sold the local groups made a profit of $1,000! Pete Driscoll was amazed at how well the Precious Feet sold. He was thrilled that he could be part of spreading the Pro-Life message in such a simple and effective way!

2. Using The Precious Feet For Education, Motivation And Awards

The most consistent comments we hear are how the Precious Feet are exceptional as an educational tool. Indeed, that is WHY they are the International Pro-Life Symbol - because they inspire people to think beyond the words to visual impact of the humanity of the unborn. It never ceases to amaze us how creative and ingenious people are in using the Precious Feet. The following are some ideas from Pro-Lifers on how to use the Precious Feet.

Children Love the Precious Feet

Many Pro-Lifers go into private and public schools and talk about the development of the unborn baby. While they may not mention abortion, they are affirming the humanity of the unborn by introducing children and teens to the child in the womb. As part of their program, they pass out the Precious Feet. The children LOVE them!

Dolly from Minnesota writes, "This morning I talked at a Family Living class at the Trimont High School - tomorrow morning I talk at the Waldorf High School. And all of these beautiful teen-agers LOVE your Precious Feet. Even the boys asked me if they could take them home for their mothers."

In Arizona, Snowflake High School students proudly wear their Precious Feet. Because of an active Teens for Life group on campus, many teens have been exposed to the development of the unborn baby and the reality of abortion. The boys proudly wear them on their cowboy or baseball hats. Girls wear them on their shirts, put them on their binders and even on their shoelaces!

Philip Sheridan, Pro-Life Chairman of the Marquette Council of Knights of Columbus writes, "We have been greatly encouraged in our Pro-Life campaign by the great number of pre-teen and teenage boys and girls who have taken and who wear the Precious Feet lapel pin. We originally thought that the pin would appeal mainly to 'old folks' who are conservative and settled. But to our surprise, the Precious Feet pin has attracted many young marrieds and the young impressionable youth!"

Mary Resa of Tuscaloosa, Alabama writes, "I am a public high school French teacher. My students often ask about my feet. This pin has been used as a topic in many of my classes. Many young people have had their eyes opened. Now they want feet of their own, so I'm placing this order. May God bless you in your work."

Using the Precious Feet as Awards and Rewards

Carole Steier of Omaha, Nebraska told us about a volleyball tournament their Pro-Life group sponsors. There is an entry fee and all participants receive the Precious Feet with their registration. Up to 400 people participate in the tournament and for many of them this is the first time they have been exposed to the humanity of the unborn child.

Jerry Gongaware of Greenburg, Pennsylvania told how their Crisis Pregnancy Center use the Precious Feet at their annual banquet. Every person who purchases a ticket receives a pair of Precious Feet as a special "thank you."

Therese Breheney of Pennsylvanians for Life uses the Precious Feet as service awards. She writes, "This year we will be again giving 'feet' of various types for years of service awards."

One of the most unique and touching uses for the Precious Feet was at an all boys Catholic School. The boys wear blazers as part of their uniform. As incoming freshmen they receive a pair of Precious Feet that they wear on the lapel of their blazer for the next four years. Then, as a tradition during their graduation ceremony, they take the feet from the lapel and place them on their ties.

This tradition came about because a Pro-Lifer went to that school and shared about the reality of abortion. In her presentation she gave out Precious Feet. As a result, the boys started this tradition that continues with every incoming freshman class.

The Knights of Columbus give the gold plated Precious Feet to the winners of their annual Pro-Life contest. They provide all 7th and 8th graders with literature and other Pro-Life materials. After the students have a chance to study it they take a test. The Precious Feet are given as an award to the winner in each class.

Educating the Public - the Easy Way

Stephanie McMaster of Southfield, Michigan shared this unique idea for the use of the Precious Feet with us: "Hi! I put my Precious Feet pin on my driver's license yesterday. Twice when I wrote checks and showed my license the clerks remarked about the feet. Today a clerk asked about them and when I explained, she was more and more interested. I ended up giving her my Precious Feet pin. Now I need to order more pins."

Kim Owens of Cypress, California was so excited she wrote us the following, "I am so very excited to be writing to you to let you know about something exciting that happened to me at work last night. I work as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Unit. I put the 'feet' on my name badge. I was excited the first night I wore them three people said, 'How cute, look at those little feet' and I was then able to share with them the significance the little feet had. About ten people over the last week have expressed a desire to have some Precious Feet."

From Sherry Liddell of Winnie Texas: "I received your Precious Feet lapel pin at an area CWA meeting. I wear it faithfully and remarks are always made regarding it. I would very much like to have a supply to hand out when the opportunity arises. The impact of the pin is amazing! My husband has worn his to his workplace and it always stirs up interest."

From Evelyn Dymond of Birch Run, Michigan: "Each day I wear my Precious Feet on my nurses uniform and am continually amazed at the interest in them. With these 12 feet I am ordering today, I will have given 46 away to those who have expressed an interest in them. You could not have made a more appropriate choice to carry your message. One can not look at these Precious Feet and not feel the emotion I felt the first time I saw them on a co-worker's uniform."

3. Precious Feet Save Babies' Lives

Why is it important to wear your Precious Feet? Because you never know who might notice them. The following are quotes we have received from people who, simply by wearing the Precious Feet, were instrumental in saving a baby's life!

From Kathy in Phoenix, Arizona: "I am so overjoyed to have learned of the Precious Feet. I am 16 years old. One day I was in the library and saw a girl that had the cutest little lapel pin of baby feet that I was curious and asked her about them. She told me what they stood for...it touched me so dearly and this girl was so sweet. I was even thinking about getting an abortion but now I will not. I will have the baby and give it up for adoption. Too bad I can't keep it...but I know this will be best for the child. I feel it was inspiration for me to go to the library that night."

From Ray in Springfield, Missouri: "Recently one of our friends gave a pair of Precious Feet to a pregnant, unmarried girl she knew...An abortion was being planned and the girl was receiving pressure to carry out those plans. After seeing the feet she couldn't believe them. The usual, 'This can't be true', and, 'I don't believe it' led to further research and examination of just what would be happening if the abortion were carried out. In other words - a life was saved!"

From Evelyn in Birch Run, Michigan: "One of my co-workers daughters sent me a lovely letter of appreciation for the 'Precious Feet' I sent her. But the thing that moved me most was to hear her say that a friend of hers (high school age) discovered she was pregnant. When she saw the feet you sent she decided against an abortion!"

From Nan Roucel, Paris, Texas: "I have one son, age one, who was conceived when I was younger, more impressionable and unwed. When my then boyfriend - now husband and I debated on what to do when we first realized I was pregnant, I am happy to say, a lapel pin played an important part in the decision. A girl that I worked with had attended a Pro-Life meeting and wore those 'feet' constantly. If anyone mentioned them or just looked at them she was quick to point out that they were the size of a baby's feet that could be legally aborted. Isn't it amazing how 'just a fetus' can have such developed little feet? Those feet let me know that you don't end an unwanted pregnancy at your convenience.... I know that those feet really impressed me in the right way."

From Carol Everett, former abortion clinic owner turned Pro-Life, Dallas, Texas: "You know those little feet pins? Those things used to irritate me to death when I was in the abortion business. I couldn't stand them! In the grocery line a little girl about sixteen was wearing the feet. That just drove me crazy because, of course, she was shining the truth on me. I didn't understand that then, but I hated them!"

Whether you sell them, donate them, use them for promotion, or just give them away, the Precious Feet are the only item in the Pro-Life movement that can raise funds, educate people, motivate people and even save babies' lives!
